The Founding Is Nigh

Heed the founding of the 157th (yes, they're the 157th now) Aeshaettar Light Infantry! Work is finally getting started on these guys... owing to the fact that I just picked up about 20 Mordians, 50 metal Cadians and 50 Catachans relatively cheap. The Bitkingdom order has been delayed a wee bit, but should still be going through. I also plan to hit up The WarStore for some Wood Elf bitz with which to make Aeshaettari Guardsladies.

Over the next little while I will be paintstripping, hacking up, headswapping, and repainting all the "mongrel guardsmen" that have joined up; and kitbashing together the first 30 or so truly unique Doom Guard.

Reminds me, I'm gonna have to pick up more Green Stuff to sculpt all those kamas on!

The Lights Are On...

...literally and figuratively, haha. On the one hand, I am still pluggin' away at my Revilers 3rd Company (however slowly), plus my dad's plugged some trippy new Christmas lights in in the living room!

There is a dearth of new pics at the mo, mostly cos my camera needs new batteries and I haven't charged any. :P

But, as a general "preview" of what to expect from the Workbench in the next little while....

  • Work In Progress and Painting In Progress pics of my Revilers Librarian, Brother-Epistolary Lucius Orzora (affectionately known as the Kingslayer)
  • More PIP Revilers of various denominations. I hearts me some Shadow Grey.
  • My first attempt at scratchbuilt Drop Pods! Hopefully I can get out to Rona on the morrow to pick up the pop-up-sprinkler thingummies that I plan to base the scratches on... Unfortunately, they won't have opening doors, but they should be slick looking and cost effective!
  • Lastly, my buddy (and fellow blogger) Big Boss is getting together an order from awesome online hobby store Bit Kingdom. I'm going to be ordering an arseload of Imperial Guard bitz... so the raising of the 124th Aeshaettar is nigh!

So, that's what to expect in the next little while. I'm off to go plug in my battery charger and drool over the online bit catalogues. Cheers!

Happy Halloween!

Most people celebrate Halloween by dressing up and getting loads of free candy... me, I carved a Chaos Pumpkin.

Rather than do your standard run-of-the-mill pumpkin, I decided to do something decidedly influenced by 40k - a jack'o'lantern with four faces, one dedicated to each Chaos God. With a little help from my sister, I carved a face representative of each god on one side, and engraved the "foreheads" of the faces with the rune of their patron god.

First off, the main face of the pumpkin, dedicated to Khorne, Blood God and Lord of Skulls.

Next up, the second face, dedicated to Tzeentch, Architect of Fate and Changer of the Ways.

Third, a face dedicated to Father Nurgle, Lord of Decay.

Finally, a face dedicated to Slaanesh, She Who Thirsts.

Happy All Hallows' Eve, everyone! I'm off to plan my Techpriest Enginseer costume for next year!

The Winter WAAAGH!

Today I went down to the GW Toronto Bunker to catch the local stop on GW Canada's Winter WAAAGH! Battletour, bringing along six Terminators and six Sternguard Veterans (as well as five Eldar Pathfinders) to try and hold the line against the hordes of WAAAGH! Borker.

The battle was a quite magnificent affair, with a motley assortment of Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Grey Knights and Tau facing off against no less than six Stompaz, hordes of Nobz & Flashgitz, as well as a Battlewagon and some Dreadz.

Although they were severely mauled by the Orks, the Imperial side managed to put up a fairly competent offensive, with shots from several Leman Russes and Broadside Battlesuits toppling two of the Stompaz and rendering others useless. In the third turn, a Vortex Grenade thrown by Captain Stern took three structure points off a Klawstompa that had been tearing up the right flank.

As for my forces, the Pathfinders were spectacularly ineffective, as they were confronted with a marked lack of targets - their long rifles being useless against Armour 13 Stompaz. The Termies and Sternguard fared better, though. During the third turn, the Sternguard managed to down Ghazghkull Thraka with Hellfire rounds, and the Terminators managed to destroy a Deff Dread in the assault phase. An excellent showing for the fledgling Revilers, and I am completely sold on the combat efficacy of the Sternguard. Truly a bullet for every occasion.

Happy Accidents & Sternguard Veterans

Picked up a box of the new Sternguard Vets yesterday to add to my Space Marine Army. However, I got a little surprise when I opened up the box...

As you can see in the pic, the guy in the centre is most definitely not a Sternguard Veteran. Through some odd packaging error, I ended up with 4 Sternguard and 1 Vanguard Veteran.

No matter, though, as I happened to have enough bitz lying around to convert a bolter for him, complete with scope and box mag so he'll match up with his buddies.

Below is a shot of the bitz I used: a bolter and scope off the SM Tactical sprue, a pistol hand, and a box mag from one of the Assault On Black Reach Terminators.

Below is a shot of the finished bolter. Now all I have to do is get it pinned to the Vet's wrist, and prime and paint all five of them (and my Drop Pod) for the Winter WAAAGH! next Sunday. Cheers!

Welcome

Hello, all, and welcome to my Workbench.
I plan to use this blog to show off minis & other projects from my Warhammer 40k armies. I've been playing/collecting for three years, and have so far managed to collect an army per year.
So, soon to grace the pixels of this blog will be pictures and info about my Lost Kestrel Tomb Fleet of Necrons, my Eldar of the A'rynnal Shardfleets, as well as WIP and PIP pics of my Revilers 3rd Company Space Marines (my newest army). Plus any other hobbyish goodness I come across.
Cheers, and enjoy the blog!
